Beijing Normal University collaborates with relevant government organs and industry leaders to establish the Green Development Institute (hereinafter GDI). Responding to national strategic deployment of ecological civilization and green development, and geared to the significant needs of the country and society, GDI utilizes the university’s strength in science and technology and human resource to provide theory and practice for green development, supply innovative talents of green development for the country, and provide green, low carbon and sustainable solutions for economic transformation, regional and industrial development. GDI makes academic development as its foundation, structural reform as its focus and innovation capability building as its breakthrough point.

Focusing on the key issues in national strategy, GDI aims to be a world-class innovation platform on green development, with an “open, competitive and collaborative” operation and management. Geared to industrial needs, the GDI will explore the efficient utilization of intellectual and industrial resources, to promote ecological civilization and provide support for policy-making in scientific development and Beautiful China initiative.
